Attorney General, Chris Koster, recently sent out an alert to all consumers regarding the hundreds of companies sending out ads for free trials of Acai Berry products; after receiving reports of more than 100 complaints recently on these internet businesses “deceptive practices”.

The most popular of these deceptive practice initiatives has been this: you see an offer on the internet for a 14-day free trial of the magical Acai Berry product (formula, diet, pill, etc). After having agreed to the trial, you receive the product; however, if you do not notify the company of your intention to cancel, you will continue to receive more installments of the product at a monthly charge. While this is a common advertiser ploy, this part is not: you, as the consumer, once you have decided to cancel, cannot reach the company who offered the trial-thereby incurring monthly charge after charge.
